» TRANSIT: The End Of An Era.

It’s been a good run but all good things must come to an end. We only have 4 Transit’s left before we close the doors on one of Atlanta’s longest running events.

I appreciate all the support and help over the years and couldn’t even begin to thank everyone who has helped me make this night a success over and over again but I can sum it up with a giant THANK YOU!!!!!!! With out the synergy of those of you who have dedicated your time to this cause, none of it would have been possible.

I will be posting up the line up for the finale very soon. This is absolutely not one to miss and will go down in typical anniversary format. Please try your best to come out and support these final nights as I want to leave on the most positive note that we can!

As far as what is in store in the future, I am switching my focus away from 21+ bi-weekly events to quarterly 18+ events in the vein of Project Lifted. SYFL will continue on with more details to come.

Thank you for your support,
Anthony Rotella

» SLR006: Break - No Company / The Uprising

SLR006

SLR006 marks Break’s Shadow-Law Recordings debut. Releases on some of D&B’s most renown labels including Metalheadz, No U-Turn, Subtitles Music, Commercial Suicide, Quarantine, DNAudio and his brand new imprint Symmetry, display both the diversity of his sound and the consistent quality of his production. This release is no exception. “No Company” exemplifies the evolution of a sound once pioneered by icons such as the Virus camp in the late nineties, and “The Uprising” is another timeless production, driven by the thick percussion Break has become known for.

» Telemetrik - My Lightyear LP Release party @ STFU & DANCE!

Telemetrik is an American drum & bass producer based out
of Washington D.C. Known for his technical yet melodic
style he is considered one of the most promising artists in
drum & bass today.

In 2002 Telemetrik began an independent label releasing
the songs Nova and Monochrome. The music quickly caught
the attention of various international producers including
Impulse of Sinthetix.

In 2003 Telemetrik and Impulse formed the duo Corrupt
Souls. Corrupt Souls released under various established
drum n bass lables including Moving Shadow, Renegade
Hardware, and Black Sun Empire. Songs like 1138 on BSE,
Wicked Life on Moving Shadow, and Samsara on Circle
Recordings helped propel the duo into the drum n bass
main stream. They were featured in Knowledge, Urb, and
Rinse magazines as well as various online publications.
The duo toured extensively throughout the United States
and Europe before splitting up in 2005.

Presently Telemetrik has returned to solo work beginning
with the production of a full length drum & bass album
titled My Lightyear. The record is scheduled for a late 2007
release on Black Sun Empire Recordings and will
undoubtedly be considered the producers finest work to
date.

» 2 Free MP3’s From Redeyes!

Redeyes emerged as a DJ on the French drum & bass scene in 1999, quickly gaining a reputation for his eclectic selection and tight mixing skills. In 2001 he formed part of the Audiabrasive collective and soon embarked on a number of residences in Toulouse, supporting the likes of Fabio & Grooverider, Bryan Gee, Dj Marky,Ray Keith, Craggz & Parallel Forces, Bad Company, Nu:Tone, Commix, Break, Kemal, Ruffstuff, High Tone, Le Lutin (Audio Unit). More recently bookings have extended abroad, from the legendary Swerve sessions at the END nightclub, Movement @ Bar Rhumba, 1xtra BBC radio (guest to Ldouble connection show), to Bangkok, Pekin, Hambourg, Paris, Moscow, Auckland, Berlin, Budapest, Ljubjana, Vienna.... .

Initially listening to hard rock as a kid, Redeye’s ears soon caught onto hip hop as it emanated from across the Atlantic and into France during the late 1980’s. Record digging culture then unlocked his ears to the wider gamut of Afro-American music – jazz, soul, RnB, dub and funk, while an open-ness for the rapidly developing landscape of electronic sounds drew Redeyes to the jungle sound.

It was only fairly recently (2003) that Redeyes’ passion for music urged him to take the step into production, and his rapid development is a testament to the effectiveness of tools such as AIM and readily available music production software, which have proved powerful catalysts to emerging talent these past few years.

Today Redeyes’ productions are played by Roni Size, DJ Marky, Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Grooverider, DJ Zinc, Bailey and Nu Tone, his tunes get regular support on radio (Radio One/ 1Xtra, Kool FM, Life FM, Origin FM..) and with releases on Bingo, Creative Source, Innerground, Brigand, Spearhead, remixes for the famous Tru THoughts records (home of Alice Russel, Quantics, ect)… ...it looks as if we’ve only just heard the tip of the iceberg in terms of his output.

His debut album is goin to hit the streets aournd september/october on Spearhead records, with some mighty collaborations (Random Movement, Mutt, Matrix remix, Deeizm, ect)… look out for more infos to come.

Soothsayer Strikes Back!

Enduser / Dj Hidden / Skeksis - Manoeuvre Revisited - Soothsayer (SS012) 12” OUT MONDAY 02.16.09

Listen to Enduser -"Manoeuvre" Dj Hidden Remix

Listen to Enduser -"Manoeuvre" Skeksis VIP

Dj Hidden - Holland [Killing Sheep, Evol Intent, Adnoiseam, Genosha, Soothsayer]

http://www.myspace.com/Dj_Hidden

Dj Hidden, the Dutch Dark Lord of the Sith, returns for his second Soothsayer appearance with a cleansed, folded, and manipulated “Manoeuvre” Remix.  Showcasing his hard earned stripes (spanning a myriad of electronic genres including hardcore, IDM and drum n’ bass), Dj Hidden has delved a bit deeper into his dungeon for nothing less than pure virulence. Hard back snapping breaks and bone crushing subs govern this savory slab of pure evil.

Skeksis - St. Louis, MO, USA [ Dedication Crew, Soothsayer]

http://www.myspace.com/fetalterror

The Skeksis cult favors a wasteful, nihilistic attitude toward life. Though they are capable of forming alliances, they are by nature extremely paranoid, uncompromising, and isolationist. Skeksis is an american production duo based out of St. Louis, Missouri.  While unanimous in their hard-lined existential convictions, both members come from distinctly separate reaches of the drum & bass spectrum. Dustin E.’s background is rooted in IDM, Breakcore, Drumfunk, and other edit heavy forms of break based music, whereas Cold Fusion has maintained a strong residency for NeuroTech, Classic Tech Step, as well as playing drums for various hardcore and rock bands in the midwest region. Together both members combine different aspects of their respective backgrounds to create a unique blend of fast beats, melodic undertones, and half tempo interludes. Be on watch for productions by both members Dustin E. and Cold Fusion, as well as their combined efforts as Skeksis.

» Tambor Y Bajo Turns One Year Old This Wednesday!

This Wednesday, 404 Audio is proud to present another edition of Tambor Y Bajo at El Bar! Our one year anniversary has snuck up on us. All the way from Milwaukee we have everyone’s favorite teddy bear abelGEIN coming through to lay it down for us with local support from DZK and Mayhem. Be there!

» Ludachrist Updates Us On Their Gospel

"It will happen suddenly and unexpectedly as far as the world is concerned. Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape” (1 Thess. 5:1-3).

We are aware that many of the brothers and sisters of our Church have been restless. Wondering when our Lord will return to us and shower us with his golden warmth. The time draws near!

The two disciples of our lord, Jacob and Nicholas, have returned from a long journey. They claim to have spoken to our Lord through prayer and hallucinations. This journey has taken them close to 2 years and many hundereds of hours of dedication!
Let it be known to every man, woman, and child that they have indeed written and finished another testament to our Lord.

Hallelujah!

When will our ears be blessed with the scripture you ask? Fear not, the time is just approaching. However, this next chapter in the book of our savior, will be introduced in such magnificent jubilation, that it will overshadow ALL false prophets. We need to show to the world and our Lord that we are faithful to only him.

“It has been written that all his steaming glory will fall onto the faces and chests of those who oppose Him!”

The disciples have given us only this:

“This next testament will have two parts, of course the first part will be more hymns and music! These have enabled our Church to grow to what it is today. However, this masterpiece will improve on our last tenfold, in every way any mortal could concieve! The second part of the testament will be a visual component, with moving pictures, to intensify the experience and tell the story of our Lord, his kingdom, our disciples, and our Church. We are certain that once these chapters unfold, the world cannot deny the irrevocable greatness of our Lord and Savior LUDACHRIST!”

So, Brothers and Sisters, spread the word tell everyone in your town, village, or city that we only need wait a while longer before we are blessed with what is sure to be the most powerful testament to our Lord mankind has ever witnessed!

Before we leave you, we must give praise to a member of our church, GRYM from the Seattle, WA chapter of our church for submitting his T-Shirt design and winning the “Ludachrist T-Shirt Design Competition”! You can purchase the shirt from one of our sponsors: Negative Media Corporation.

Listen to G-Netic -"Flatline”

Alternative audio:

Listen to Dub-One -"Pressure of 10,000”
Listen to G-Netic -"Flatline”

AND

http://www.myspace.com/soothsayerrecordings

Building on the momentum of the monumental SS012 Enduser Remixes and Niskala’s debut 12” on the new sublabel, Tenebrae, Soothsayer continues the aural onslaught with SS013 Dub-one - “Pressure of 10,000” b/w G-Netic -"Flatline".

After three years Dub-One returns to Soothsayer with the magnificent jungle smasher, “Pressure of 10,000”. His Soothsayer debut ,"Cry of war”, (SS008) contributed a new sound to the ever changing Soothsayer menagerie. In the meantime the Sussex based badman has been honing his skills for prestigious labels like Xtinction Agenda and Scientifc Wax, which he co-operates with Equinox. Pressure of 10,000 adds yet another dimension to the Soothsayer oeuvre, a disgustingly sordid improvement upon the classic jungle sound. We’ve seen fit to feed the lions on this one with the most delectable beats, bass, mentasm, and just a touch of timestretch flange for the roughnecks. Tarzan has been notified!

Los Angeles based G-Netic makes his Soothsayer debut with the industrial crust core “Flatline” Having seen release on the splinterbeats label, Mindsaw, we’re very fortunate to have procured his sophmore offering for SS013. Flatline is overflowing with trash can beats and pummeling machine gun breaks, harder and nastier than “Low Profile Darkness” era Panacea whilst being exponentially better produced and engineered. Rabid Rottweiler beats designed for a reckoning on the dancefloor.

Hear Dub-One and G-Netic’s basslines roar!

» Rusko And Plastician Round Out A Massive Week For Dubstep In Atlanta!

Saturday September 19, 2009

HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT, MINDELIXIR, LOW FREQUENCY OPS, and HARMONIC PRODUCTIONS proudly present:

DUBASCENSION : THE RISING

Three of the biggest names in Dubstep Music, the first two of which are making their first ever appearance in the entire state, converge on Atlanta to form what will go down as the largest Dubstep Event in ATL’s history to date.

RUSKO
Fabric, Subsoldiers, Tempa, Dubpolice, 2ndrop, http://www.myspace.com/ruskonfire // London, UK
Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko was born in Leeds in 1985 to a musical family. From day dot Rusko was surrounded by music whether it be his families piano’s, guitars, banjo’s and saxophones…or in his later years the heavy reggae and dub sound systems of Leeds, music has always been an integral part of Rusko’s life. After graduating from Leeds university with a degree in musical performance, Rusko discovered the world of dubstep through SUB DUB and a debut appearance from the “Digital Mystikz”, having spent the past 10 years making future dub alongside Leeds very own Iration Steppas, Rusko connected with the sound and moved down to London to further advance his musical opportunities with Sub Soldiers label mate Caspa. Veering away from the dark, serious side of the sound Rusko bought a highly driven energy and fun approach to the dubstep massive and quickly coined his own take on the genre and turned the scene upside down. His sound appealed to many people outside of the dubstep world as his productions became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit “Cockney Thug” has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold. And has been remixed by Buraka Som sistema, Diplo, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts. His sound continues to develop with different BPM’s that lean to jungle, house, hip hop or electro, either way, whatever BPM or tempo…you can immediately tell a Rusko track. At 23 Rusko is only in 1st gear, with collaborations on the table with the likes of Switch, Diplo , Yo Majesty and Wiley the future sure is looking bright. Already setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists such as Adele, A-Trak featuring Kid Sister, Leon Jean-Marie Rusko is only going in one direction. Onwards, upwards and far beyond any producer could dream of. Rusko is like Dr Dre, Timbaland, and Switch, all rolled into one with a serious overdose of bass!

PLASTICIAN
RinseFM, Terrorhythm Recordings, http://www.myspace.com/plastician // London, UK
Plastician aka Chris Reed started DJ’ing in 1999 after gaining interest in the UK garage scene which was emerging on the pirate radio stations of London. He eventually gained the skills to earn himself a spot on a small pirate station called Desire FM, with a collective known as the Fearless Crew. After a few months of hard graft on Desire, Plastician and the rest of the crew moved onto South London based pirate, 2G FM - where they found a home for a good year before eventually splitting, leaving Chris to find his feet as a lone DJ. It was then that he became more involved in the music industry, getting himself a job at a distribution company called Streetsales - it was here he would gain knowledge of the way the industry worked from the inside, which led to him trying his hand at production - to further his career as a DJ by attracting more attention to his name. Plastician was then known as Plasticman, and he had various releases in 2002 on labels such as Soulja, Road, Slimzos and Contagious. He was fastly becoming a hot property in the newly emerging genre we now label as grime. 2003 was a big year for Chris, he earned himself a DJ set at the established night “FWD”, and began to really establish himself as a DJ / Producer within both the dubstep and grime movements. Early in 2003, Terrorhythm Recordings was founded by The Plastician (still known as Plasticman then). It was an outlet for his own productions, with releases by himself and Mark One in the first year. After 6 months of FWD playouts and Terrorhythm releases, Rephlex took note of his production skills and signed him to their label for the release of the groundbreaking “Grime” compilation. He also gained a slot on Rinse FM, a station which boasts the discovery of artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and Roll Deep. 2004 saw The Plastician tour all over the globe - meaning he was the first UK artist to ever play dubstep or grime in many of the world’s major countries outside of the EU. This is following a good few years of touring and playing across Europe, solidifying his importance to the genres he represents. This trend has continued to this very day, as he remains one of the scene’s biggest ambassadors. In 2005 Plasticman officially changed his name to The Plastician to avoid any confusion between him and Richie Hawtin, this name change was synchronised with his move from Rinse FM (London’s biggest pirate radio station) to BBC Radio One, where he would host the station’s first ever dedicated grime and dubstep show in the beginning of 2006. After spending 18 months at the BBC, Plastician moved back onto pirate radio station Rinse FM in 2007, beginning a show in his new Monday night slot with co-host and long time friend MC Nomad. The show rapidly became one of Rinse FM’s most listened to shows and has become staple listening for dubstep fans ever since the switch. 2008 saw the much delayed but highly anticipated release of Plastician’s debut album “Beg To Differ” on his own Terrorhythm imprint. Releases from Joker shortly followed on the label – another artist who has gone from strength to strength since his first releases. To this day Joker is still working closely with Terrorhythm where he is managed in house by co-owner Charles Holgate. With the much increased popularity of Dubstep in the UK market alone, Plastician has been extremely busy playing gigs all over the world in 2008 and 2009, with barely any time to work on music production his sets have become more galvanised and have been described by some publications as “surgically precise”. It is not unusual for Plastician to get through records at ridiculous pace, which is something he works on all of the time

JEREMY
http://www.atlantadubstep.com , Worldwide Transmissions, Dub Anomaly Records, Household Management // Atlanta, GA
Jeremy Kirk is an Atlanta based Dubstep artist with long roots in the Southeast Drum and Bass community. Since 1995 and the days of Roger & Jeremy, as well as Faderwars, Jeremy has been behind the decks, and impressing crowds. Proud to be one of the first few DJs to push the DnB sound in Atlanta, and one of the first to even play DnB at raves in Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and even Jackson, Miss. Roger and Jeremy were at the forefront of the emerging Southeast Drum n Bass scene. R&J held down residencies with Pleazure, Konkrete Jungle, and Shady Productions, and spun alongside all the big names of the day: Aphrodite, Mickey Finn, even Grooverider. In the early 2000’s, Jeremy and Kia kept it going in Atlanta at The Church, The Globe, and every other underground venue in the city spinning alongside Dieselboy, AK1200, Bad Company UK, and Roni Size. In the last couple of years Jeremy wandered away from Drum and Bass and ran into a new sound called Dubstep. Having always been a fan of ragga and reggae vibes and bass heavy, wobbly Drum and Bass, it was easily a match. Jeremy was in love all over again. He started up atlantadubstep.com and teamed up with local promoters to start pushing the sound at weekly and monthly events. Jeremy and the guys from Corinthian Recordings also started up a digital Dubstep label called Worldwide Transmissions. Now with a strong following, Dubstep in Atlanta is starting to make a name for itself. Jeremy has production tracks in the works set to come out on some serious labels in The ‘09, as well as well as solid monthly Dubstep events running around town. Expect to see big ‘tings from the man Jeremy in the coming year. Soon you will ALL know his name, and you will ALL be a fan.

QUAD CONTROL

» ESP Beats Down Atlanta With Betamorph Recordings’ Deej This Friday!

Stateside-based label Betamorph Recordings is the bass-heavy fruit of veteran DJs and producers Dylan James (aka Deej) and Chris McCahill (aka Megatron). Taking the visceral edge of Deej’s roots in the early ’90s Los Angeles rave scene, and combining it with Megatron’s seminal graphic imagery of a galactic future, Betamorph offers a palette of kinetic, funky, yet twisted Dubstep releases that shred any remaining borders around contemporary electronic music.

Founded in 2009, Betamorph is continually releasing a series of epic soundscapes and dirty symphonies to cement their position at the forefront of dubstep evolution. The artist roster currently boasts names such as Phaded, Skrewface, Big Basha, Gaia, Black Swan, and DJ Robyn. This ensures that Betamorph will never follow a specific sound, so output can stay spontaneous and the catalogue never predictable. The passion is as deep as the bass, but the ambition reaches to another galaxy. This is true subterranean sci-fi: hard tunes and the future of dubstep, a genre undergoing betamorphosis.

In 1997, Deej was playing parties in his native L.A. with great and influential acts like Simply Jeff, Jason Blakemore, Ron D Core and R.A.W. In 2005, Dylan relocated to Florida, playing shows and dominating the local scene. After running Jacksonville’s dubstep label Abducted Dub for a few months, Deej started his very own Betamorph Recordings. Drawing his eclectic influences from across drum and bass, breaks, house and even a little Pink Floyd, Deej now has the perfect platform to unleash his vision of tomorrow’s sounds on both national and global levels. He’s done so playing alongside heavyweights like 12th Planet, Babylon System, Trillbass, Scuba, and Werd2jah. Ghost Industries welcomes Deej back to Atlanta after destroying the North Atlanta Trade center earlier this summer.

» Dom + Roland Unleashes ‘No Strings Attached’

Dom & Roland * has been at the forefront of the Drum and Bass electronic music scene for over 15 years.
Originally signed to No-U-Turn he moved to the scene leader Moving Shadow in 1995, he has released four
critically acclaimed albums to date, over 100 singles, high profile electronic remixes as well as many
collaborations with some of the scene’s most talented artists.

As one of the pioneers of the tech-step genre he is well known for his cinematic otherworldly soundscapes,
It has often been suggested that he move into doing film soundtracks as his sound often conveys a strong
visual element. Teamed with his sought after talent for producing dance floor pounding rhythms, he has
managed to stay at the pinnacle of the scene to this day.

In 2005 Dom started his own label Dom & Roland Productions releasing the creme de la creme of Drum
and Bass collaborations, as well as being an outlet for his own work. An accomplished sound engineer, Dom
is well known to have co-produced and mixed some of the classics of the drum and bass scene, including
Subway with Ed Rush, Sonar with DJ Trace, appearing as guest producer alongside Optical on
Grooverider’s seminal Prototype Years album, as well as having enjoyed enormous success with many of
his own tracks including the mighty Thunder, Imagination and Can’t Punish Me. The late John Peel a
longtime fan, also approached Dom to commission a piece of work although sadly this dream was never
realized.

Over the years Dom & Roland releases have been commissioned for several Playstation games and
licensed to television in various countries including the BBC and Channel 4 in England. More recently Dom
has continued his passion for pushing the boundaries of music technology, contributing from a producer’s
standpoint, by being an adviser to various music software companies, including Native Instruments and
Focusrite, taking studio tools to the next generation.

In his latest album No Strings Attached, in addition to his latest solo work, Dom has teamed up with the
current crop of big name producers to release a 12 track album, featuring collaborations with Amon Tobin of
Ninja records, the trendy Dutch super producers Noisia, American superstar Hive, Audio, and last but by no
means least Rob Playford, Dom’s old label boss, now close friend, also known as the co-producer and
engineer of Goldie’s legendary timeless album. Dom’s latest album is one of his finest works to date and is
due for release in November on all formats including a five part vinyl edition.

With the album release now imminent Dom has started a busy schedule touring the Uk and Europe until
Christmas before doing Russia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and America early next year.

* Roland is not a person. Roland is the digital sampler made by Roland that Dom used to compose with!

DJ Magazine: “Intros so futuristic and sci-fi George Lucas would cream himself if he heard them...”
ATM Mag: “Dom & Roland is both a production pioneer and legend in drum & bass...”
XLR8R: “One of the finest talents the genre had ever seen...”
Knowledge: “Dom has had a hand in some of the most influential drum & bass anthems of all time...”

404 Audio will be closing its online store as of 5:00PM EST on Friday December 11th, 2009. Check out this free MP3 download from Exit Records label head, dBridge. dBridge writes: “This was originally going to come out on Shogun as the B-Side to Inner Disbelief. I decided against the 12” as I felt I kept giving away my best tunes, much to Frictions annoyance; understandably (we’ve made up now though). I still owe him a release; which is now in writing so I’ll have to commit.”

» Human Imprint Returns With SPKTRM!

SPKTRM - PLANET HUMAN EP

A. SPKTRM - Planet Human
AA. SPKTRM - Flux (feat. Arsenic)

Human Imprint, now retooled and regenerated for 2010, is coming on strong with this
killer release by SPKTRM - guaranteed to crush dance floors each and every time. After
spending the past year on dubplate and getting massive play by DJs such as Fresh,
Noisia, Evol Intent, Hive and the Planet of the Drums crew, the track FLUX has ‘anthem’
written all over it. It is one of those rare tracks that manages to smash it in both hard
heavy sets as well as jump up dance floor sets. The flip side, PLANET HUMAN, is the
real weapon on this release. Giant pads in the intro leading into a bottomless drop with
filthy hip hop vocal stabs and nasty drum edits, PLANET HUMAN is straight drum and
bass sickness. When Bailey played it on his BBC 1xtra show he had to pull it back
twice! SPKTRM has something to prove with this release and he brings it home hard.
This is an essential purchase for DJs that want to add serious weight to their sets.

» Diplo Creates ‘Pon De Fail’ - Ripping Off Ludachrist!

A while back, Ludachrist took Major Lazor’s ‘Pon De Floor’ and mashed it up with the classic theme from Beverly Hills Cop and created ‘Pon De Foley’. The track was so well received that Mad Decent, Diplo’s label, even decided to blog about it! Fast forward to current time and Diplo has redone Ludachrist’s remix of Pon De Floor, making a really half assed version of the idea Ludachrist realized with the two tracks, and sold it to DJ Hero 2 without so much as contacting or crediting Ludachrist. Support the home team and give the video a thumbs down and give WorshipLudachrist’s comment a thumbs up!

» Udachi At Graveyard This Friday!

Friday October 15th 2010
Graveyard Tavern proudly presents:
FILTHY & FAMOUS

Featuring:
UDACHI
[Trouble & Bass / Party Like Us - NYC, NY]

Riding a bullet out of hell on a path to the 3rd plane of existence, Udachi’s influence lies heavily in the psychedelic and manic aspect of dance music. His style can swing from heavy bass inferno drop’s to shuffly 2 step low end stormers. When he goes left you better follow!

He has collaborated with Tommie Sunshine, and AC Slater (BOLTAN). Has been remixed by Ninja Sonik, Baobinga, Nadastrom, B. Rich, Costello along with other tallented producers. Coming together like voltron Udachi’s music has crept into the dubconscious minds all over the globe. Kids making up drinking games to the JellyRoll drop, signals a generation of misfits and creepoids ready to jump in and be swallowed up by Udachi’s unique bassjump rhythms and signature quirky style.

Remixing the likes of Audio Bullies, Kastle, Flinch, AC Slater, Juiceboxx and Dre Skull, Luna-C, Rico Tubbs, Figure, Club Feet he knows how to flex and present his ever evolving style to dance musics underground pallete.

You might of heard a tune or few of his on festival circuits. Tracks like “Paypur” (collaborated with Jubilee), “P-Funk Skank” and “JellyRoll” have been played by the likes of Tommie Sunshine, AC Slater, Kissy SellOut, Terry Mullan, Star Eyes, Crookers, Franki Chan and more. And just recently Tiesto dropped his m83 remix on Annie Mac BBC Radio 1

» Scion A/V Radio 17 Tour - Tonight At King Plow!

Monday January 17th 2011
Scion A/V and Atlanta Dubstep present:

DROP THE LIME

Everyone comes from somewhere, but some people wear the cities they’re from like badges of honour. Drop the Lime is Luca Venezia, one of those people whose identity is intrinsically connected to his hometown – New York City. And while many have only just heard of the magic of Drop The Lime, Luca has been honing his craft for years. From humble beginnings in a gospel choir to a childhood obsession with 50s rock’n’roll, the 26 year old has been experimenting with sound for years. His influences range from Brian Eno to rockabilly (he’s well known for
his 50s doo wop and soul sets) to Sonic Youth to Wu Tang. He also runs Trouble & Bass, an influential New York club night and label since 2006. The Trouble & Bass crew are the DJs who are defining a new New York sound.

As Luca says himself – “Having a crew from NYC behind you, pushing the sound you produce, is essential in creating a movement. We’re all producers and DJs so sometimes we’ll collaborate on production—or I’ll have one of them help out with one of my basslines – since they understand my sound better than anyone else.”

2009 was a big year for Drop the Lime. He released two huge club hits, Devils Eyes and Set Me Free, the combined force of which helped him topple the likes of Phoenix, Florence & The Machine and The XX as “Most Blogged Artist on the Planet” (Hype Machine). Luca took his unique style of DJing around the globe, farther afield than ever before, crisscrossing North America many times as well Europe, China, Singapore and Australia. Videos of kids losing their minds to his unique sets, mixing rockabilly and club music with live vocals on top are all over YouTube.

2010 sees him continue his quest to be one of the world’s leading DJ/producers, with a slew of singles and debut album about to hit in a big way. Keep your eyes on the Elvis Presley of dance music!

STYLE OF EYE

He started out working in the studio in the late 90ies and began to develop his unique style of music with releases and remixes on such prolific labels as Classic Recordings, Tiny Sticks and Rabid Records - to name just a few - or most recently on Dirtybird and John Dahlbäck’s Pickadoll label.

His understanding of electronic music goes far beyond stereotyped thinking as you can tell from going through the list of different labels he has released on. Linus melts down electrish bleeps, hysteric synthezisers, raw percussions, minimalism, big mouthed basses and soulful chords in order to create the club destroying monsters.

After the success of “The Big Kazoo” E.P (Dirtybird) (#1 on the Heavy Rotation in IDJ´s February Issue), followed up by “The Prophet” (Pickadoll) Style Of Eye´s first artist-album will see its light in May 2008 on Pickadoll. Watch out for Style Of Eye, he is certain to become the “important star” that DJ Magazine predicted he would be.

His releases are being played by such well-known names as Sven Väth, John Dahlbäck, Claude VonStroke, Tiga, and Laurent Garnier, M.A.N.D.Y amongst many others.

FRANKI CHAN

Diligence, tenacity, and creative vision are what set DJ and IHEARTCOMIX Records owner Franki Chan apart from the rest. In a decade of revivals and reimagination, Franki Chan holds close the ideals and vision that has brought him to the forefront of his craft, seamlessly merging music and art by way of live performances and comics; all of which contribute to creating a pop-renegade aesthetic that defines the energy and unpredictability of the man himself. This post-digital renaissance artist has created an empire of all the things he loves and is.

Franki Chan has proven to be an iconic fixture amongst the eccentric background of an industry that is ever changing. His signature fedora and thick rimmed glasses have become a regular presence worldwide, with notable appearances at festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, clubs like the legendary Fabric in London, and everywhere in between. His mixing craft and ability to forecast what’s next have turned this digital punk version of Clark Kent into an artist that will continue to provide dance floors with the salvation they’ve been looking for. Franki’s endless touring schedule has led him to share the stage with a barrage of talented artists such as Justice, Diplo, Boys Noize, A-Trak, and Drop The Lime to name a few. Beginning with only a single turntable and a cassette
deck, Franki’s continued dedication to music and its ability to bring people together has certainly breathed new life into shaping the way we listen to and enjoy our nights on the town, especially when it comes to throwing some of the best parties and events in the LA area and beyond. Even if you’ve never been to a Franki Chan party, the energy and essence of his events have surely impacted the ideology of what it means to throw a memorable event.

In 2009, Franki Chan added producer to his already impressive résumé of cultural and artistic achievements. Franki is currently working on original tracks (debut single out Spring 2010) that will no doubt brings us the best in what we have come to know of his production skill through the several projects he has remixed for other high caliber artists such as Acid Girls, The Toxic Avenger, and The Very Best. Just like his DJ sets, we can expect an onslaught of dynamic, high-energy arrangements, deeply rooted in techno with a more rhythmic and percussive edge. In the meantime, with the success of his contribution to the Scion A/V Mixtape series (IHEARTCOMIX #21), Franki will release a series of new mixtapes that will surely encapsulate the spirit of his live performances.

GINA TURNER

Originally hailing from New York, Gina Turner grew up with the NYC House sounds of clubs like Shelter and Sound
Factory. Drawing inspiration from places such as these, she moved to Boston and gained her own radio shows on
88.9 WERS and 99.9 WECB. She soon became a staple in the Boston club scene and then in 2006 moved to Los Angeles. In LA she formed the DJ duo STACCATO (myspace.com/officialstaccato) and continued with radio and club, and founded an afterhours movement called MAJOR (myspace.com/majorlosangeles). Gina has extended her talents across the pond and has played in such cities as Oslo, Brighton, & Paris. She has caught the attention Laidback Luke, Zoo Brazil & many other european producers, and with that comes collaborations that are legendary. Tiesto’s label BLACK HOLE RECORDINGS will be releasing her track “BANG IT” with Zoo Brazil in Late October 2009. Gina’s 2009 collaboration with Laidback Luke has birthed a new production duo called “Nouveau Yorican.” The tracks that they have coming out can be described as latin inspired shuffle tech house. This is just the beginning for Gina, she plans to release more tracks as Staccato as well her her highly anticipated solo productions.

SECTION 8

Mike Waterbury, aka Section 8, fell in love with Drum & Bass in early 1999 after moving down to Atlanta from his hometown in Connecticut. Influenced by many sounds including Virus, Subtitles, Hospital, & Atlanta-based Shadow Law, his love for Liquid & Neurofunk was crystal clear in every set. After playing at numerous Drum & Bass events throughout the southeast, he soon became one of Atlanta’s top locals. One of his highlights was having to fill in for the legendary LTJ Bukem, and performing alongside MC Conrad in April of 2005. That same year, Section 8 took the next step & started producing Drum & Bass. Two years later, in 2007, he discovered a huge attraction to Dubstep after hearing such artists as Vaccine, Vex’d, and Burial. Now primarily focused on Dubstep, he is trying to bring something new to the table with his sound. Known for his signature synths and driving basslines, Section 8 is making his name known worldwide. In September of 2009, Section 8’s debut release entitled “Mercury EP” was released on Abducted Records. Only out a few days, “Boulevard” appeared in Beatport’s Top 100 for Dubstep. Since his debut release, Section 8 has kept incredibly busy in the studio, especially after linking up with with top producers Killeralien, B1t Crunch3r, Phonetic System, Mouch, Vesicle, Dubtek, TZR, & Press.

» Bulletproof Touches Down In Atlanta This Saturday!

Saturday March 19th 2011
404 Audio presents:
BULLETPROOF
[Cyanide Recordings - Auckland, New Zealand]

For over a decade, the name “Bulletproof” has stood for nothing less than forward thinking future bass music. In the early 90’s, his relentless passion and devotion to Drum & Bass established Jay as one of the nations pioneering D&B DJ’s and promoters. His entrance into production in 99” alongside former production partner Josh, lead to Bulletproof becoming Australasia’s first international Drum & Bass export, signing their tracks to one of the leading labels of the time, and helped spawn the rise of the local future bass music production scene, being sighted by names like Concord Dawn, The Upbeats, State Of Mind as THE pioneer of NZ D&B production.

Jay Bulletproofs achievements are endless. Whether it be sporting one of the largest repertoires of worldwide 12” vinyl releases of any NZ musician. Releasing music on some of the Drum & Bass scenes biggest labels and collaborating with names like Pendulum. Owning and operating the country’s longest running Drum & Bass label “Cyanide Recordings”. Receiving New Zealand Music Award nominations for his Albums. Winning the title of “Best Drum & Bass DJ of 2010” at the “Night:Life Music Awards”, or hosting the nation wide weekly Drum & Bass radio show “The Subsessions” on “GeorgeFM”. Its fair to say that Jay Bulletproof has truly earned his place in the New Zealand music history books. 16 years into the game, and today the multi-award winning DJ/Producer still remains as inspired and passionate about future bass music as he was at the very beginning all those years ago.

In 2007 Bulletproof ventured into the emerging realm of Dubstep production. His recent Dubstep album, “Soundtrack To Forever” made NZ music history by charting in the NZ Commercial Top40, and then went on to win the highly prestigious award for “Best Electronica Album of 2010” at the 2010 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. No easy task by any stretch of the imagination. His album was one of musical diversity never before seen in NZ future bass music.

Always staying one step ahead of the game, Bulletproof went back into the studio, to produce the highly anticipated follow up LP “Dub Me Crazy”.  Geared towards DJ’s just as much as the mainstream audience, Dub Me Crazy follows closely the current trends in UK/US dubstep, but veers away from the relentless chainsaw style in favor of more musical dance floor oriented styles of beats. With the video in production and the single release date of march 28 locked in, “Dub Me Crazy” featuring the stunning Jessie G has already been coined the summer anthem on the festival circuit around New Zealand. The full album release is set for 2/5/11 So, with all this in place, it seems only fitting that Bulletproof is about to embark on UK/EU/US/AUST/NZ tours to promote the album release, Bringing the Dub Me Crazy sound to dance floors the world over.

» A Letter Of Thanks From MJ Of Household Management!

This started out as just a “thanks from Household” note, but as I continued writing it, it tuned very much more into a “Thank you from MJ personally” letter. So I hope you will indulge me for a second because there are some things I really want to say:

I know you guys hear this from me all the time, but it really is true. Without you, we are nothing. As I enter year 17 of throwing events in Atlanta, and year 3 of running our agency, I think it is a good time to stop and reflect on how we got here. It is because of you. Whether by “you” I mean our fans, patrons, and supporters, who come out to every show we throw even if they have never heard of the headliner, because they trust that if we are bringing them they must be good, or the artists that we represent globally with our agency, who put their careers in our hands and trust us to do what is best with them: I have only two words: Thank you.

We are very blessed to be able to do what we love to do for a living. I know many of you hear me boasting that we are “the best” often, and I really do feel that we are. We indeed do bust our ass every day, so you can shake your ass. But I don’t just say that out of arrogance. I know better than most what it is like to be the Underdog, and do be working in an unsupportive scene. For many many years it was like pulling teeth here to get anybody to come out to anything in this town. I know a lot of our detractors claim that we are “only in this for the money”, because we are now able to bring in big shows on a consistent basis, but let me assure you we have lost more money than we have ever made doing this, and if that was our only motivation we would have hung this up a long time ago.

I also want to take a chance to thank my team. My partner Brandon, who many of you know as the DJ Mark Yurm, lives, sleeps, and breathes Household Management. If it were not for him, we would not be near as far along as we are now. I say all the time that we are 5 years ahead with our agency of where I planned to be by this time, when we started it. Brandon is the reason for that. Without him, I would be dead. As he says all the time, “It takes a whole team of people to make MJ look that good.” And he is right. I could list them all here now, but you know who you are. We do have one of the best teams in Dance Music, anywhere in the world. In my opinion. Thank you to all of you.

Thank you to our artists who we either manage, do bookings for, or just all out represent across the board. It is an honor to be able to work with a roster of talented artists such as yourselves. I think of all of you as family, and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t realize what it means to look after someone else’s career. It is a deeply meaningful job to me. One of the highest calling. And one I take very very seriously. Thank you all for giving us a chance to get to know you, and work with you. Some of you are my heroes who I grew up listening to, and I cant believe that I am now working with you. And some of you are about to be the biggest stars on the planet. Whoever you are, if it says Household Management next to your name in any capacity, know this. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you, and I have your back forever. Period.

But back to our fans. Words cant describe how amazing you guys make us feel. One of my biggest joys in life is to see your responses when we announce a show or a headliner and you guys go crazy about it. That is really the reason I still do this. There is no better feeling in the world than getting people excited, and then making them dance. That’s all we really want to do. Give the people of Atlanta a great show to dance at. Thats what we try and do every time. It is our Mission Statement if you will. “All I wanna do is make the whole crowd bounce ya’ll”. And you guys are the reason that it is possible for us to do that. Thank you from the bottom of our, and my, hearts. And we promise to keep doing everything we can to keep bring the biggest and best shows to Atlanta. We are not going anywhere. Because of you.

JADE
[Citrus Recordings / Lifted Music / BSE Recordings - Budapest, HU]

Jade is Gábor Simon, a 29 years old architecture engineer from Budapest, Hungary.

In 2000, when fleeing from a blizzard Jade accidentally found himself seeking shelter in a dark club which was playing Drum and Bass, named Jailhouse; this was the moment he was first infected with the Drum and Bass virus.

Jade started working on his own music right away, gradually developing his sound and experimenting with production, this was then richly rewarded in 2004 when his debut release came out on the massive Black Sun Empire Records.

Jade had initially started collaborating with Matt-U and together had a number of highly regarded releases on some of the Drum and Bass scenes most impressive labels including the legendary “Moving Shadow”, “Rymetyme’s 1210 records”, “Gridloks Project51”.
Jade’s individual releases are packed full of energy a darker, harder influenced sound which has lead him to release on major labels which have been helping to shape the future of the scene including ‘Citrus’, ‘Black Sun Empire recordings’, ‘Close 2 Death’, ‘Collective’ and ‘Project 51’.

Since 2004 Jade released over 30 tunes over 8 different labels, has played in 25 countries and over 100 cities around the world from London to Hong Kong to Auckland to Athens with a huge demand for his performances around the globe.
Jade is rated as one of best deejays on the circuit today, with strong crowd interaction and mixes that incorporate the hi-tech sounds of neurofunk and groove of technoid, including all the latest dubs from other established high profiled artists alongside his own high quality production which make for the perfect performance for your event.

Capitalizing on Jades success “Citrus Records” have commissioned Jades debut album “Venom LP”

Friday May 27th 2011
Heavyweight A/V and Atlanta Dubstep present:

BARE
[SubHuman - Los Angeles, CA]
1st Atlanta Appearance!

For Los Angeles bassline technician BARE, aka Sean Rodela, 2010 will be fondly remembered as the year his twisted face melting sickness exploded into a worldwide epidemic. Taking the dubstep scene by storm with his staggering studio output and electrifying live performances, there is no question BARE has clawed his way into the ranks of the bass music elite - and he’s not going anywhere. If you don’t know, time to get to know…

The BARE sound is a product of deep roots in rock, west coast hip-hop (as part of the Vital Mindz collective) and aggressive drum ‘n’ bass (as past alias Reborn). These influences, combined with ultra crisp drum programming, slick melodies and mind altering bass modulation, spawn face melting dubstep anthems that practically rewind themselves. “I’d have to say that the love of making something from nothing inspires me to make music,” BARE says. “There is no better feeling than when you see people go insane to something you created from scratch!”’BARE’s first release, the ragga-influenced “Culture” on Terminal Dusk recordings last March, was charted by DJs worldwide via Chemical Records, and put BARE on the radar alongside other members of the already incendiary Los Angeles dub community. The second release, the Groupie Love Life EP on Reid Speed’s Play Me imprint, held down multiple top 10 spots on Beatport’s coveted download rankings for over a month, and showed the world the BARE sound was a force to be reckoned with. Soon after, BARE was recruited by drum and bass legend Dieselboy as one of a select few artists to represent his breakthrough Subhuman imprint (alongside Numbernin6, Muffler, and Smash Gordon), and from there the buzz grew into a deafening roar. Releases on Ultragore, Basshead Music,Tuff Love Dubs and other high profile labels followed, and BARE tracks found their way onto the playlists of Excision, Funtcase, 12th Planet, Borgore, MRK1 and other high profile dubstep artists around the world. Unofficial reworks of “Fine Day” and “Shot Me Down” released online spread like wildfire, amassing tens of thousands of plays/downloads and counting. BARE’s studio output is astounding to even the most prolific producers – his uncanny ability to crank out top quality tracks on an almost weekly basis leaves his fans with plenty to sink their teeth into.

The madness doesn’t end there. A monster behind the decks, BARE’s high energy, “all killer no filler” DJ performances have earned him a reputation as a tough act to follow. He’s developed a particularly rabid fan base –anyone who’s experienced a BARE set (and lived to talk about it) will tell you he’s a DJ who absolutely loves what he does. BARE is never afraid to engage his crowd – he tends to be as active on the mic as he is on the decks, keeping the crowd locked and constantly coaxing them to go as mental as possibly. In addition to notable one-off gigs at some of the nation’s most notable venues (Dub Nation, Dubtroit, Sub.Mission, Frequency, etc.), his explosive performances have earned him a spot on the Subhuman tour alongside heavyweights Dieselboy and Smash Gordon - invading a city near you in 2011.

Sean has a genuine love for those that take an interest in his music. Members of his social networks are constantly treated to studio teasers, video clips, mixes and free tracks as a thank you for their support. In an unprecedented move, BARE also created an exclusive VIP remix and a run of T-shirts for the city that got the loudest on a recent mini-tour (congratulations Denver). “Mad, mad, MAD love to the fans,” BARE says; “You guys make me what I am and I do what I do for you! Much more free stuff to come this year!”

BARE’s dedication to bass music was recently rewarded with the title of “Best New Dubstep Artist of 2010” by Beatport. Knowledge Magazine recently described BARE as “revolutionizing the sound of dubstep with his elegant and melodic structures, that will surely fool you once his dirty down-south-like grimey basslines get your body moving with sheer excitement.” Across the pond, the BARE sound recently caught the attention of Virus Syndicate DJ/producer MRK1 – as a result, three BARE tracks (including the dancefloor annihilating “Like a G6” rework) were chosen to represent the VS crew in the BBC Radio One Dubstep Soundclash (leading the VS crew to declare themselves victorious). A release/remix on MRK1’s Contagious imprint is one of many projects slated for the new year.

The momentum shows no sign of slowing in the months to come. A Subhuman tour (with Dieselboy, BARE, Smash Gordon) kicks off in early February, with dates already scheduled throughout the country. More releases & remixes are already in the pipeline for Subhuman (including an artist album and a massive collaborative release with the likes of Numbernin6, Muffler, and Mark Instinct to name a few), Buygore / Ultragore, and Play Me Records. BARE was recently commissioned for a brutal rework of metalcore band Asking Alexandria’s “A Single Moment of Sincerity”, which should see the light of day soon. A collaboration with Borgore is in the works, and BARE continues to refine his solo sound daily with constant studio time and an undying dedication to music. “Some serious producers and sounds are coming on a constant basis now, and I love every second of it! The future for dubstep looks super bright!” Keep your eyes and ears open - BARE is on the warpath for 2011, melting faces in a city near you.
